In simple terms regenerative Agriculture is a specific set of practices, ideologies and methodologies that prioritizes soil health long term and considers the farm production as a smaller facet of a larger environment. Regenerative processes once established often require far less water or added nutrient while trapping considerable amounts of carbon from the air into the soil annually comparably to other forms of modern agriculture. Farms like ours create tiny natural oasis’ providing habitat for a variety of beneficial insects, native fauna and are effective at slowing and cleaning excess storm water destined for our local watersheds and aquifers. Producing food in this way creates a more biologically diverse and resilient environment surrounding our production that directly supports stronger local communities naturally and by design.

CSA in terms of farming typically refers to Community Supported Agriculture. Community Supported Agriculture or CSA is a farm based program where a member of the community commits funds to a farmer for a percentage of their season’s harvest ahead of the season’s start. In return the farmer produces and delivers the crop to their members at a regular interval throughout the season at a discounted rate.
-
CSAs work well as a result of the numerous mutual benefits to each party. For the farmer a guaranteed/contracted sale for a certain amount of their produce allows them to better plan their season, invest in the required material and the appropriate allocation of resources to accommodate this agreement. It also comes at a time when the farmer is required to make considerable investments in materials, tools and labour to spin up the farm many months ahead of any income from the resulting crops materializes. For the community member having guaranteed access to farm fresh produce at a discounted rate for the season is often enough however the added benefits of supporting local agriculture means keeping farming in your community, higher nutritional properties from the products you receive as they are harvested ripe and delivered immediately. As an added bonus our members show drastically increased food literacy, security and sovereignty by creating a personal relationship with someone local capable of producing the products they enjoy and require long term.
-
Not all CSAs are created equal. Knowing this we aim to over deliver on quality, weight and value on each delivery as our longstanding CSA members are the reason we farm! Having folks as committed to enjoying our products as we are producing them, is the ideal situation for us! We happily toil away in the field, greenhouse and processing plant to make the best possible products week after week season after season for our members!

Our prices have gone unchanged for the past few seasons as the program is not intended to capital driven rather it is intended to be community driven. We aim to fill each box with $60-$75 worth of delicious regenerative products. At $40 and $45 per box and added deposits and delivery fees we are merely bringing in enough to provide the service and that is all that is required. We in turn take the resulting preseason income to offset a much larger investment in lease payments, insurance, administration, marketing, web hosting, consumables like compost, seeds and other required equipment, materials, labour, transportation and distribution required to produce the products you crave. Phew!
